Why Fitabyte exists
A file that is too large, a screenshot with private details, a product photo in the wrong shape, a sign in another language, or a format that will not open can interrupt an otherwise simple task. Fitabyte turns each of those problems into a clear, single-purpose workflow.
We also document the reasoning behind those workflows. A compressor can hit a byte target, but the user still needs to know whether the result is readable. A redaction tool can draw a blackout, but the user still needs to know which identifiers to hide. The product and the guidance are designed to work together.
Browser-first by design
Where practical, Fitabyte processes selected files on your device. That can reduce unnecessary file transfer and makes the tools useful without an account. The current Compress, Privacy Blur, MarketReady, and File Opener workflows are designed around local browser processing.
Image Translator is the important exception: OCR and image editing happen in the browser, while recognized text can be sent to the configured translation provider so a translation can be returned. We state that boundary on the tool page and in the privacy documentation rather than using “local” as a blanket marketing claim.
What you can do
Compress
Make images, PDFs, video, and audio fit a maximum size and clearly report when a target is unrealistic.
Protect
Redact sensitive areas from screenshots with blur, pixelation, or solid blackout before sharing.
Prepare
Format product photos for marketplace and social-media canvases without opening a large design suite.
Translate and open
Translate visible text or inspect unfamiliar image, document, text, and data formats.
How we test and write
Tool behavior is reviewed around the real workflow: choosing a file, processing it, handling errors, exporting a result, and documenting limitations. When an explanation benefits from measured evidence, we prefer a controlled reference test over an unsupported claim. The Fitabyte Lab publishes our first reproducible format-size measurements.

What Fitabyte does not claim
No browser tool can guarantee that every format, target size, OCR result, translation, or redaction decision will be correct for every use case. Browser capabilities vary. Very small compression targets can damage quality. PDF compression can flatten interactive or searchable content. Automated translation can misread names and numbers. Manual redaction cannot hide information the user forgets to select.
For high-stakes legal, medical, financial, security, compliance, or identity workflows, use the process required by the relevant organization and verify outputs independently.
