Editorial policy

Useful first. Search traffic second.

Fitabyte publishes guides to help a person finish a real file task. This policy explains how we decide what belongs on the site and how claims are reviewed.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

What we publish

We focus on problems that connect directly to Fitabyte’s tools: reducing file size, understanding image and media formats, protecting information in screenshots, preparing ecommerce images, translating visible text, and opening unfamiliar files. A guide should answer a distinct user problem rather than exist only to target a slightly different keyword.

How a guide is reviewed

  1. Confirm that the problem is within Fitabyte’s scope.
  2. Check the explanation against the behavior and limitations of the relevant tool.
  3. Separate measured facts from rules of thumb and examples.
  4. Link to related Fitabyte material only when it helps the reader continue the task.
  5. Review privacy or high-stakes caveats when a workflow can expose personal, financial, legal, medical, or security-sensitive information.
  6. Add an updated date when the substance of the guide changes.

Original testing and examples

We use controlled examples where they add explanatory value and identify them as reference tests rather than universal results. The public Fitabyte Lab includes test methodology, source characteristics, measured byte counts, and limitations.

AI-assisted drafting

Fitabyte may use software, including AI-assisted tools, to help structure or draft material. Publication is not based on generated text alone. The editorial requirement is that the final page accurately reflects the product, provides a distinct practical answer, avoids fabricated tests or experiences, and states meaningful limitations.

Corrections

If a guide contains a factual, technical, or product-behavior error, we correct the page and update its review date when the change is substantive. Readers can report a problem through the contact page. Please describe the page, the specific statement, and the behavior you observed.

Advertising independence

Advertising may support Fitabyte, but ad placement does not determine which tool, format, product, or workflow we recommend. Editorial pages are written for usefulness and accuracy. Sponsored material, if introduced in the future, should be labeled as such.
