Good to know
JPG is useful for photographs; PNG preserves transparency. Transparent pixels receive a white background in JPG. Converting a lossy image to PNG cannot restore detail already lost.
Convert JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC into a usable image
JPG is useful for opaque photographs; PNG and WebP can retain transparent pixels. Exporting a transparent image to JPG fills those areas with white. HEIC and HEIF files are decoded before export; other inputs, including AVIF, depend on the browser's ability to open them.
Conversion creates a still image at the decoded source dimensions, subject to the 32-megapixel output limit. It does not preserve animation or promise original metadata and color-profile handling. A PNG cannot restore detail already lost in a JPEG, and changing format does not guarantee a smaller file.
A few things you might ask.
Can I convert an animated GIF?
The image converter exports a single still frame, not an animated JPG, PNG or WebP. Keep the original GIF if its movement matters.
Why does a supported image fail to open?
A filename extension does not guarantee a decodable file. The source may be damaged, use an unsupported codec variant or exceed available memory. Try a smaller original or export a JPG or PNG from the application that created it.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
