A LITTLE GUIDANCE

Three steps. One less task.

  1. 01

Add the image and check its displayed orientation.

  2. 02

Choose the rotation and an output format: JPG, PNG or WebP.

  3. 03

Export and reopen the result to confirm that text and subjects are upright.

Good to know

A 90-degree turn switches portrait and landscape orientation. A 180-degree turn fixes an upside-down photo. Check the preview before downloading your new copy.

Turn a sideways image by 90°, 180° or 270°

The selected rotation is applied to the image as it appears after decoding. A 90° turn rotates clockwise; 270° turns the other way. A quarter turn swaps the output width and height, while a 180° turn keeps them in the same order.

This creates a new image from pixels rather than changing only an orientation tag. JPG and WebP exports may introduce compression changes; PNG avoids another lossy image encoding. The tool does not straighten a slightly tilted horizon, mirror the image or preserve animated frames.

A few things you might ask.

Can I rotate a photo by a few degrees?

The available turns are 90°, 180° and 270°. Fine-angle straightening and perspective correction are not included.

Why is the exported image's file size different?

The rotated pixels are encoded into your selected format. Size depends on that format and its quality setting, not only on the rotation. Use Compress image if you need a maximum file size.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.

Can I use this tool on my phone?

Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
