Add Page Numbers to a PDF
Number PDF pages automatically and save a new copy. Keep a long document easy to navigate without a server upload.
Let’s add page numbers.
Add pdf files to get started.
Three steps. One less task.
- 01
Merge or reorder your document first, then add the final PDF here.
- 02
Choose a whole starting number between 0 and 1,000,000.
- 03
Export and check the bottom of each page for legibility and overlap.
Good to know
Numbers follow the current page order. Reorder or delete pages first. Check that new numbers do not overlap an existing footer, especially in documents with mixed page sizes.
Add consecutive page numbers to a finished PDF
Each page receives a consecutive number, beginning with the value you choose. Numbers are added in 12-point Helvetica at the horizontal center, 24 points above the bottom edge. Every page is included; there is no cover-page exclusion, page-range selection or separate numbering style.
The tool adds new visible numbers without removing existing ones or changing the PDF viewer's page labels. Complete your merge, deletion and reordering first so the printed sequence matches the final document. Inspect pages with existing footer text, unusual sizes or rotation before sending.
A few things you might ask.
Can I skip the cover or use Roman numerals?
This tool numbers every page using ordinary numeric digits. It does not offer a skipped first page, Roman numerals or a Page 1 of 10 style.
Will this replace numbers already printed on my PDF?
No. Existing page content remains. New numbers may overlap an old footer, so check the exported PDF and keep the original if the placement is unsuitable.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
