- 02
Convert to MP4, WebM or MOV while keeping this browser tab open.
- 03
Test picture, audio and seeking in the player where you intend to use the file.
Good to know
MP4 is useful for broad playback compatibility. WebM suits web video. This tool re-encodes the clip, so compare picture and sound quality after conversion. Unusual codecs and very large files can exceed browser processing limits.
Convert video to MP4, WebM or MOV
MP4 and MOV outputs use H.264 video with AAC audio. WebM uses VP8 video with Vorbis audio. The converter re-encodes the source rather than simply renaming its extension, so processing takes time and the output may look slightly different or become larger.
The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V inputs, but codec support within those containers varies. Files above 250 MB are rejected for browser processing. There is no target-size control here; if you need a smaller delivery file, compress the result and verify its final format again.
A few things you might ask.
Is changing .mov to .mp4 enough?
No. Renaming a file does not change its container structure or codecs. This converter writes a new file using the selected output format.
Why is the converted file larger?
The selected encoding can use more bytes than an efficient source. Conversion is for format compatibility, not a guaranteed size reduction. Use Compress video when the destination imposes a size budget.
Which source files can I try?
The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V. Sources above 250 MB are rejected. Codec compatibility and available browser memory also matter; a recognized extension does not guarantee successful processing.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
