Trim Video Online
Cut a video to the section you need. Set start and end times and export a shorter clip directly in your browser.
Let’s trim video.
Add video files to get started.
Three steps. One less task.
- 01
Open the source video and note the start and end times of the part you need.
- 02
Enter both times in seconds, with the end later than the start and within the clip.
- 03
Trim to MP4 and play the beginning and ending of the exported clip.
Good to know
The end must be after the start and within the source duration. Preview the finished clip to confirm the timing. Your original video remains unchanged.
Keep a selected time interval from a video
Trimming keeps one continuous interval and exports it as a re-encoded MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio. Start and end are expressed in seconds, so 1 minute 30 seconds is entered as 90. The exported duration is based on the difference between those values.
Choose times within the actual source duration; the input fields do not establish that a selected interval contains usable footage. The tool is not a lossless stream cutter and does not promise frame-accurate boundaries. It also cannot join several separate excerpts or remove a middle section in one run.
A few things you might ask.
Why did trimming produce no output or a shorter clip?
The selected interval may lie outside the available footage, or the source codec may fail to decode. Check the original duration, enter a valid end after the start and try a short interval first.
Will separate subtitle files be trimmed too?
No. This tool processes the video file only. A separate SRT or VTT may need its cues removed or retimed in a subtitle editor; converting its format alone does not adjust that timing.
Which source files can I try?
The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V. Sources above 250 MB are rejected. Codec compatibility and available browser memory also matter; a recognized extension does not guarantee successful processing.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
