A LITTLE GUIDANCE

Three steps. One less task.

  1. 01

Add the video and choose 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9.

  2. 02

Process the centered crop to create an MP4.

  3. 03

Watch the whole result to check moving subjects and text near the edges.

Good to know

This tool uses a centered crop. Subjects near an edge may be cut off. Review the whole clip, particularly when the subject moves across the frame.

Crop video to square, portrait, story or landscape ratios

The crop keeps a centered area with the selected aspect ratio, removing excess width or height. Output dimensions are rounded to even values for encoding. The tool re-encodes the result as MP4; it does not stretch the full image into the new shape or add borders.

There is no draggable focal point or automatic subject tracking. A centered subject may fit well, while a person moving near an edge can leave the kept area later in the clip. Review the entire export, not only its first frame. Use Resize video afterward when you also need a specific output width.

A few things you might ask.

Can I move the crop toward the left or follow a face?

The crop position is fixed at the center. Custom positions, keyframes and face tracking are not available in this tool.

Why did captions or part of the subject disappear?

Changing aspect ratio removes material outside the centered crop. Try a less aggressive ratio or keep the original framing when edge content is essential.

Which source files can I try?

The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V. Sources above 250 MB are rejected. Codec compatibility and available browser memory also matter; a recognized extension does not guarantee successful processing.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.

Can I use this tool on my phone?

Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
