Rotate Video Online
Rotate sideways or upside-down video clips. Choose an angle and save a corrected copy without a server upload.
Let’s rotate video.
Add video files to get started.
Three steps. One less task.
- 01
Add the video and choose a 90°, 180° or 270° turn.
- 02
Process the rotation to create a new MP4.
- 03
Play the export in your intended player to confirm orientation and audio.
Good to know
A quarter turn swaps portrait and landscape dimensions. This tool re-encodes the clip. Review the exported orientation and quality in the player you intend to use.
Fix a sideways or upside-down video
A 90° rotation turns the picture clockwise, 270° turns it counterclockwise and 180° turns it upside down. The change applies to the whole clip. A quarter turn exchanges width and height, with padding to even dimensions when encoding requires it.
The result is re-encoded as H.264/AAC MP4 rather than only having a rotation tag changed. Processing can affect quality and file size. This tool does not support arbitrary-angle straightening, mirroring as a separate option or rotation that changes partway through the clip.
A few things you might ask.
Is a 270° turn different from 90°?
Yes. They turn in opposite directions: 90° is clockwise and 270° is equivalent to a 90° counterclockwise turn. Check the saved copy before sharing it.
Will rotation keep the same file size and format?
No. The rotated copy is encoded as MP4, so its bytes and possibly its quality differ from the original. Use Convert video if you need another output container afterward.
Which source files can I try?
The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V. Sources above 250 MB are rejected. Codec compatibility and available browser memory also matter; a recognized extension does not guarantee successful processing.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
