Change Video Speed
Speed up or slow down a video clip in your browser. Choose a playback multiplier and save the adjusted video.
Let’s change video speed.
Add video files to get started.
Three steps. One less task.
- 01
Add your clip and choose a speed from 0.5× to 2×.
- 02
Process the video and audio together into a new MP4.
- 03
Watch and listen to the result, checking movement, speech and synchronization.
Good to know
At 2× the duration is roughly halved; at 0.5× it is roughly doubled. Slow motion from footage with a low frame rate may appear less smooth.
Speed up or slow down an entire video
The available presets are 0.5×, 0.75×, 1.25×, 1.5× and 2×. A 2× result is approximately half the original duration, while 0.5× is approximately twice as long. Video timing and audio tempo are adjusted together for the full clip.
Slowing footage does not generate extra frames or recover motion detail. The tool has no frame interpolation, variable-speed sections or separate music track controls. It re-encodes the result as MP4, so keep your original and check both the picture and sound before publishing.
A few things you might ask.
Can I slow down just one moment?
The chosen speed applies to the entire input. Trim an excerpt first if that is the only part you want to change; this tool does not combine it back into the rest of the video.
Why does slow motion look less smooth?
The existing frames are shown over a longer duration. No new intermediate frames are created, so a source with limited frame rate may look uneven when slowed.
Which source files can I try?
The file picker accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V. Sources above 250 MB are rejected. Codec compatibility and available browser memory also matter; a recognized extension does not guarantee successful processing.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
This tool processes files on your device. Moving a file between Fitabyte tools uses a one-use browser handoff that expires after 10 minutes; abandoned handoffs are cleared on your next visit. Your original stays unchanged.
Can I use this tool on my phone?
Use a current browser and keep the tab open during processing. Available memory and processing speed depend on your device; start with a smaller file for large PDFs or video.
